Dance

What is the Vision of the Dance Ministry?

The dance ministry exists to unite and empower dancers and "non-dancers" alike for the purposes of glorifying the lord and reaching the lost in a spirit of freedom and excellence.

Who can be involved in the Dance Ministry?

ANYONE can be involved - whether you are male or female or have been dancing your whole life or you have never taken a dance class, God loves your worship just the same!

What is Restoration?

Restoration is a time of adoration to the Lord and an outreach to the community. Dance was originally created to be used as a form of creative and expressive worship to the Lord, and we desire to see dance restored back to it's original purpose in our world today. Leaders and students work to capture the heart of God through choreography in a way that can bring restoration, hope, and joy to all involved. Tap, Jazz, Lyrical/ Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Ballet are examples of styles of dance that have been featured in Restoration!

Interested in Having the Dance Ministry come to you?

This past year we loved dancing in places outside of Wesley and Restoration, so please contact Payton at ugawesleydance@gmail.com for more information!

How can I get involved?

  1. E-mail Dance Intern Payton McCarty at ugawesleydance@gmail.com
  2. Almost every month, we will dance in an offertory on Wednesday night, or we will have dance outreaches on campus. Students are welcome be a part of both of these! Practice times TBA. Contact Payton if you are interested.
  3. Come to the Restoration Interest Meeting on January 8th, 2012 @ 4PM in the Wesley Main Chapel to sign up to be in Restoration. At this meeting students will see a preview of all of the dances in Restoration 2012. Students will be placed in a dance based off of the dances they connect with and the practice times they can attend. Dancers will practice 1 1/2 hours each week per dance they are in. Practices are usually Sunday-Thursday. Dancers can be in up to 2 dances not including the Finale.
  4. Come to Restoration on March 31st, 2012 at the Classic Center in Downtown Athens at 2:30 or 7:30. Tickets are Free!
