Election Week Prayer Guide

This week holds a lot of unknowns. I want to be committed to praying through the heaviness and the confusion.

Monday: Let peace rule.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. (Colossians 3:15) 
I want peace to be my pacesetter for the week. I pray that a peaceful tone rings in my chest each day. I pray that the mind and heart of Christ show through above all else.

Tuesday: Where does our hope come from?

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
 
On election day, I want to reflect on hope. Where does my hope come from? Truly, only one source. In the midst of chaos and all-out calamity, I can press in. I can ask for hope. I can boldly cling to hope.

Wednesday: An eternal God sings over you.
 
“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” - Isaiah 55:12

On Wednesday I will need a heavenly perspective. I pray for this vision — the vision of being led forth in peace — will overtake me. I pray that I will feel Christ’s affection and hear His song for me.

Thursday: Proclaim liberty to the captives.

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound." - Isaiah 61:1-2

No matter what, I am still an instrument of justice. I pray that I will have God’s heart for the people in my circles and my community. I pray that I will have vision and clarity for how to serve the poor, the oppressed, and the brokenhearted.

Friday: Where is God?

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” - Matthew 6:34, MSG

This verse has been crucial for me since March. I pray that I can give my entire attention to where God is working. I pray for clear next steps as we continue to build the kingdom here. God is near. I want to go where He goes.
